Your tax return is being processed – IRS will provide a Refund Date

Your tax return is still being processed

Your tax return is still being processed means your tax refund is stuck for one of many reasons, as you filed a paper return.

Ans also, your numbers and your employer’s numbers may not match. Or you accidentally missed an entire line or form.

Or, you may have requested a loan that takes longer for the IRS to approve. However, the most likely reason for a delayed tax refund is because you filed a paper return.

IRS generated 4.7 million messages as it could not give paper reports for about two months during the COVID-19 closure to a public guard dog.

Some IRS staff returned to the office in June, but the 4.7 million returns are many returns to be processed, and reports of unusual delays are still emerging.

On the other hand, if you filed your claim on time (by July 15th) and are in arrears with the refund, the IRS will pay interest on the repayment on April 15th before the refund date.

(Interest rates are 5% per annum, calculated daily, for the second quarter and 3% for the third quarter.)

Reasons for the delayed tax refunds

  • Of course, the reasons for the delayed tax refunds before the corona-virus crisis may still exist. Read on for other reasons and how to avoid future delays.
  • The IRS will process most refunds in less than 21 days and refund delays.
  • Your tax return is incomplete. It means that you had not submitted all the required forms to IRS for processing.
  • Your return shows identity theft or fraud. If a Social Security number on your return has already been filed for a precise tax year, the return will flag and pending until it is manually verified.
  • If your return includes a claim for an earned income tax credit (EITC) or additional child tax credit (ACTC), it will delay your refund.
  • These loans usually are put on hold for further verification. Under the U.S. Tax Hike Protection Act (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue EITC and ACTC refunds until mid-February.
  • If your return is a delay, it does not automatically mean that you are eligible for an audit check.
  • The IRS will interact with you by mail if they want additional information from you to process your return.

IRS will provide a Refund Date

  • Once the IRS has accepted the tax return, they will process it until the tax refund is approved, and then the date of issue is available on the IRS website.
  • If more than 21 days have passed, formerly the IRS accepted, and the tax refund is still processing, you can call the IRS and speak to an IRS agent about the refund.

What is the IRS Tax Report: “Your tax return is still being processed. A return date will be provided when available. “

If you receive this letter, we encourage you to call the IRS for more information. I received this message and called because they needed to verify my identity.

I was asked several questions, for example:

1. What is your mamma’s maiden name?

2. What is your postal address?

3. In which city were you born?

4. What is the exact amount of your refund?

After I submitted my responses, the agent paused briefly to confirm that my information was correct.

And then returned and said they had checked everything and I should hear something within 90 days.

This most likely means that you applied for a refundable loan on your return, e.g., B. Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit.

The IRS is investigating these refunds more closely, causing delays.

So they have it. IRS was closed for several months during the pandemic, so it didn’t release to the computer system.

The IRS cannot provide updates to you until they are released. They are currently under construction in order of date of receipt. You will need patience this year
